Suspicious bag closes Walmart parking lot
A suspicious bag closed a Walmart parking lot in Columbia Wednesday afternoon.
A 9-1-1 caller reported the bag at the Conley Road store, and the Columbia Police and Fire departments arrived at the scene.
A full-sized black suitcase was abandoned in a mulch planter near the middle of the parking lot. Crews blocked off part of the parking lot while they investigated the bag.
Officers examined the suitcase with a portable x-ray device, finding it to be empty.
The parking lot was reopened after about two hours of officers being on the scene.
The owner of the bag is unknown.
