Road work slated to improve Business 50 West
Crews will begin work Wednesday on Business 50 West in Jefferson City, a project approved by the Cole County Commission in January.
The Don Schnieders Excavating Company was awarded the $3.5 million dollar project, which is the largest road project Cole County has ever done on their own according to Cole County presiding commissioner Marc Ellinger.
The project covers the Apache Flats area and will be completed in three phases.
The first section will cover the north side of the road, the second section will cover the south, and the third section will cover the center part of Country Club Drive.
Phase one will run to Enterprise Drive, phase two from Enterprise to Pioneer Trail Drive, and phase 3 from Pioneer Trail to Babe Ruth Drive.
Traffic will be decreased to two lanes without a center turn lane during sections 1 and 2, but there will be some disruptions during the installation of pipe crossings.
Detours will be set up when crews work on the center lane.
Improvements to storm water, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and pavement should be completed by December 15.
