Police identify body found on Schumate Chapel Road in Jefferson City

Jefferson City police Tuesday identified the body of a man found in a ditch last month.

The body of John Nelson, 49, of Holts Summit was found off Schumate Chapel Road near the Church of the Nazarene on January 21.

Police told ABC 17 News Tuesday Nelson was identified using dental records. They believe his body may have been in that location for six to 12 months before it was found.

An autopsy last month revealed Nelson died of natural causes.
