University of Missouri officials still do not know when University Village was inspected
The University of Missouri hired a local engineering company to inspect more than 250 buildings owned and operated by the university.
These inspections come after a balcony collapsed at University Village apartments.
Columbia Fire Lieutenant Bruce Britt died Saturday morning at the collapse trying to evacuate students.
ABC 17 News has been in touch with University officials all day Monday asking for inspection records.
As of Monday night officials tell ABC 17 News they are in the process of gathering those records and still do not have answers.
“They’ve told us that they have had inspections here, but they are still trying to figure out when that was last,” said Bon Wadholm, a University Village resident.
University leaders told ABC 17 News that Campus facilities is the department that handles those records and that structure inspections happen when a problem arises.
The University complete audits on all building every 5-8 years, but officials still would not confirm if that was the case with University Village.
