MODOT: Stadium Blvd. construction to be finished by November
The new diamond interchange at Stadium Boulevard and I-70 has alleviated some traffic congestion. But many are asking when the area near Broadway and Stadium will be finished.
MODOT said they still have to finish the cross walks, sidewalks and install some traffic signals. But they said they are in the home stretch of the work being completed.
“The total job completion is the end of November this year,” said Chuck Sullivan, Resident Engineer with MODOT.
ABC 17 News drove the area on Thursday where work is being done to see where the longest delays were.
ABC 17 News sat at Stadium and I-70 for one minute during the lunch hour with zero traffic, only to hit the next two red lights. The light at Broadway and Stadium had a nearly two minute wait.
The Broadway and Stadium intersection is where MODOT is installing two left turn lanes. They said they believe that will help with congestion in that area.
“With double lefts and timing of signals, it’ll work to where it will keep traffic flowing and it will be able to handle more at rush hour,” Sullivan said.
He also said they may put signs up to help direct people with the confusing lanes at the diamond interchange over I-70.
Sullivan also said they will be putting down more striping as soon as weather permits. He said winter weather has taken a toll on the roads. He said the striping will help with visibility at night.
