Columbia man pleads guilty to child sex crimes

A Columbia man charged with child sex crimes pleaded guilty Tuesday.

Shaun Dierker, 28, was charged with attempted statutory sodomy and attempted sexual misconduct with a child after a December 2012 investigation.

Boone County Cyber Crime investigators said in a news release Dierker made contact with who he believed was a 14-year-old boy via email. The conversations then moved to text messages.

Dierker then started sending the decoy child explicit photos via text message and asked to meet the decoy for sexual activity.

Deputies arrested Dierker on December 15, 2012 when he arrived at a fast food restaurant to meet the decoy. Investigators took a cell phone and two computers as evidence.

Dierker remained on bond Wednesday night, with a final sentencing scheduled in Boone County for April 21.
