Gov. Nixon, University of Missouri system president speak at rally

Gov. Nixon and the University of Missouri system President Tim Wolfe both spoke at a rally in the state capital Tuesday morning.

Hundreds attended from each of the four campuses, including Columbia, St. Louis, Kansas City and Rolla. The 40th annual legislative day is sponsored by the University of Missouri Alliance of Alumni Associations and Extensions.

Gov. Nixon said the UM system is performing at such a high level, he is proposing to increase funding by 8.2%.

Wolfe said the extra aid will help, but he still thinks the system is capped at growing any further until critical building projects can move forward.
