Council approves more salt, state raises
The Jefferson City Council voted Tuesday to spend money on more salt for roads this winter.
Council approved $100,000 for additional road chemicals, with that money coming from the general fund.
The money will go toward extra road salt and calcium chloride for the rest of the winter season.
Council also approved a resolution Tuesday, agreeing with Governor Jay Nixon’s call for a state employee raise. It encourages the legislature “to adopt a real and meaningful salary for all state employees to the extent it can.”
There are more than 13,000 state employees that work in the Capital City. Gov. Nixon proposed a three percent raise for all employees in his State of the State address last month.
