Services announced for Columbia activist Elbert
Services have been announced for late Columbia leader and activist Wynna Faye Tapp Elbert.
A visitation will be held Friday afternoon at Missouri United Methodist Church at 204 S. Ninth Street from 5 – 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the same location Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Columbia activist known to many as Wynna Faye died Sunday at age 69. She hosted the longest-running call-in radio show on KOPN, called Straight Talk.
Ms. Elbert worked for the city’s parks department for 30 years and also ran the local Head Start program in the 1960s. She got a bachelor’s degree from Stephens College and a masters from the University of Missouri.
Arrangements are being made by Millard Family Funeral Home in Columbia.
