Investigation continues into Holts Summit homicide

An autopsy has found no obvious signs of trauma on the body of a Kansas City woman found behind a gas station last week in Holts Summit.

In a news release Monday morning, Sgt. Marc Haycook said the cause of Jessica Murafetis’ death was still unknown and toxicology results could take months to come back from the state lab.

The body of Murafetis, 44, was found Thursday morning behind the Exxon station parking lot at 120 E. Simon St.

Police said she was wearing a red shirt from a towing company in Kansas City, along with green United States Marine Corps jogging pants.

That Kansas City towing company confirmed Friday that Murafetis was not an employee.

ABC 17 News found that Murafetis has had some run ins with the law; landlord complaints, breach of contract, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Anyone with information in the case is being asked to call Holts Summit police at 573?896?8431 or Callaway County Crime Stoppers at 573?592?2474.
