Pizza Tree closes, looks to expand
A relative newcomer to the Columbia pizza scene is closing, just as customers get a taste of it.
Pizza Tree, inside Mojos on Park Avenue, served its final slice in its current location late Saturday night.
Owners told ABC 17 News the business had outgrown its current home, but they had not found a new location yet.
“I just don’t have the time or ability right now to manage both projects, running the pizza shop and moving somewhere else ,” said owner John Gilbreth. “I’m just kind of cutting it off as it is and we’ll be back.”
There was no timeline Saturday night for the move.
“I’m going to wait for the perfect space to come for us to jump into so if it’s next week great,” Gilbreth said. “That would be so awesome but if it’s going to be a couple months, it’s going to be a couple of months.”
Customers swamped the location Saturday night. Gilbreth said business was so brisk, he was delaying orders two hours to ensure he had enough ingredients to fill them.
