Jefferson City man dies in icy crash

A Jefferson City man died early Saturday morning when his truck hit ice on Highway 54 in Cole County.

Billy Robinett, 58, was driving near Hammann Drive around 6:30 a.m. when the crash happened, just outside the Jefferson City limits.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Robinett hit ice and lost control of his truck. It then went off the road, down a steep embankment and overturned.

Robinett was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after the crash at Capital Region Medical Center.
