Eldon meth dealer gets 20 years after attempted escape

A meth dealer from Eldon will spend the next 20 years in prison with no chance for parole. Mitchell Atterberry was sentenced in federal court on Friday for a series of crimes dating back to 2010, when officers first raided his home near the Lake of the Ozarks.

Police stopped Atterberry three times over the next two years, and two of them ended in high-speed chases near Jefferson City, Holts Summit and Fulton.

In total, authorities collected 54.14 grams of meth and $20,939 from the arrests.

Once Atterberry was in jail, investigators say also he tried escaping in November 2012 with his cellmate, who was a convicted murderer.

Atterberry pleaded guilty to several charges last August.
