Dorial Green-Beckham arrested overnight in Springfield
UPDATE: Springfield police released new details on the arrest of Dorial Green-Beckham Saturday afternoon. According to the release, Green-Beckham was a passenger in vehicle that was pulled over for expired license tags.
The officer who pulled the vehicle over smelled an odor of marijuana. The release states after the search, the officer found “approximately a pound of marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia.”
Green-Beckham and the two other occupants in the car were then booked. John W. McDaniel and Patrick W. Prouty were with Green-Beckham, with McDaniel driving the 1999 Jeep Cherokee at the time of the traffic stop. The Mizzou football star was released from jail earlier this morning.
The police say the investigation has on-going and did not say Green-Beckham was charged.

COLUMBIA, Mo. Springfield police arrested Missouri football star Dorial Green-Beckham this weekend on suspicion of felony drug possession. Green-Beckham was booked and then released early Saturday morning.
A Mizzou football spokesperson told ABC 17 the team is “aware of the situation and working to learn more.”
Greene County Jail had Green-Beckham’s photo and booking information on its website, but then took it down after the sophomore was released. No charges have been filed as of Saturday morning.
KSPR in Springfield reports authorities say Green-Beckham was in a vehicle that was pulled over at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Sunshine Street. Authorities added he was one of three people in the vehicle, which was pulled over during a traffic stop.
According to Gabe DeArmond of PowerMizzou.com, the Mizzou athletic department has a policy in place for felony charges. If a player is charged with a felony, there is a suspension until the issue is resolve. If a player is convicted of a felony, the player is booted off the team.
This is Green-Beckham’s second arrest since 2012. He was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession. The former Hillcrest High School star entered a guilty plea after the charge was reduced to trespassing.
Green-Beckham is coming off a career year, in which he had 883 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. He is expected to be one of Missouri’s top returning players for the 2014 season.
