Deputies capture wanted man after chase

A wanted criminal from Crawford County was arrested in Maries County late Friday night.

Joshua Evans, 27,had 11 warrants and was on Crawford County’s “Most Wanted” list at the time of his arrest. Evans is from Cuba, Mo.

According to a Facebook post, Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman said Evans was arrested after a drug-related traffic stop Friday.

Evans fled the scene before being captured when a deputy cornered him and used a Taser to subdue him. Evan was taken to an area hospital because he told deputies he had ingested crystal meth, heroin and Xanax.

Deputies arrested Evans on resisting arrest and drug violations. He remained in the Maries County Jail early Saturday.

Evans’ was wanted for f ailure to appear on felony manufacturing methamphetamines, felony manufacturing of controlled substances and two counts of felony property damage in Crawford County. Bond amounts there totaled more than $40,000. He was also wanted on warrants in St. Louis County and Wentzville.
