Police investigate shots fired into Columbia apartment

Columbia police were investigating a shooting in the north part of town Sunday evening.

One woman who lives on Murell Drive reported that a bullet came flying into her apartment around 7 p.m. She was not hurt.

Detectives on the scene told ABC 17 News they found evidence of multiple shots fired on nearby Rice Road, which is north of Clark Lane and just off Ballenger Lane.

A car in the 4400 block of Rice Road was also hit, a bullet shattering its windshield.

That road was closed for some time.

As of 7: 45 p.m., detectives were working through the neighborhood to find other shell casings and to interview witnesses and neighbors.

At that time, police had no suspect description.
