Three suspects on the run after armed home invasion

Three suspects are on the run after an armed home invasion in Columbia Sunday night.

Just after 7 p.m., a resident at a home in the 1100 block of Elleta Boulevard said he stepped outside into the backyard. When he came back inside, three men wearing masks had entered the home through the front door.

Police said the men wielded a gun and demanded money and property. Then they ran out the back door.

A K-9 unit was brought in and tracked the suspects’ scent to a vehicle police believe the men had gotten into.

Columbia police are working with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department to find the three men.

Police said the suspects are described as black males, wearing all black clothing and at least one of them is suspected to be armed.
