Courthouse heating fix to cost nearly $20,000

Repairs to a heating system at the Cole County Courthouse will cost approximately $5,000 more than expected.

Work will begin Tuesday to fix the heat in the courthouse’s holding cells and is expected to be completed by Friday. The cost for the project will cost nearly $20,000.

Due to a broken heater, temperatures in the holding cells have dropped below freezing.

At one time last week, the Cole County Sheriff told ABC 17 News the temperature dropped to 11 degrees.
