MU women’s basketball team flies by Oral Roberts 86-64.
The Missouri Women’s Basketball team cruised to an 86-64 win over Oral Roberts on Wednesday.
The Tigers hit 17 three-pointers in the win over the Golden Eagles and improved to 8-1 on the year.
In a first half full of momentum swings, the Tigers were able to deliver the decisive plays with the game in doubt. With Mizzou holding a slim 21-18 lead, sophomore Lianna Doty buried her first trey of the game.
Maddie Stock followed with another long ball to cap a 14-0 run, helping the Tigers build a comfortable lead they would never give up. Missouri led at half 43-28.
The efficient outside attack opened things up in the paint for Bri Kulas in the second half. The senior forward converted three easy layups early, pushing Missouri’s lead to 19 with just over 15 minutes to go. Kulas finished with 13 points.
In the second half Morgan Stock drilled back-to-back threes with 12 minutes to play. Her fifth three-pointer of the game (she finished 5-of-7 overall from three) handed Mizzou a 23-point advantage.
The Stock twins combined for 30 points, scoring all their points from beyond the arc.
Missouri hit 17 three-pointers total behind 44.7 percent shooting from long range. Eye led all scorers with 17 points, converting 5-of-10 from outside. The junior needs just 24 more treys to become the Tigers’ all-time leader in three-point makes.
Mizzou, 8-1 overall and 6-0 on its home floor.The team plays Bradley on Sunday at 2p.m.
