Columbia man stabbed during attempted robbery
Police are investigating a reported robbery that resulted in the victim being stabbed in the thigh.
Columbia police say around 4 p.m. Tuesday, they responded to a car accident near Providence Road and Mick Deaver Drive. While working the accident scene, police learned that one of the drivers had been a stab wound to his thigh.
Police say that man was stabbed during a robbery that happened on Monday night.
The victim told officers he was walking near Green Meadows and Providence roads around 11 p.m. when a black man approached him and asked for money. When the victim refused to give him money, the suspect stabbed him in the thigh. The suspect fled without stealing any of the victim’s belongings.
The victim said he did not report the crime because he did not believe the injury was serious. However, Tuesday’s accident caused the wound to reopen.
The suspect is described as a black man, approximately 40 years old, 5’10” tall, approximately 180 pounds, with 4-5″ dreads. The suspect was last seen wearing all black clothing and was armed with a knife.
