Man sentenced to death for 2009 Jefferson City murder

A Mid-Missouri man was given the death penalty for a brutal 2009 murder.

On Tuesday, Cole County Circuit Judge Patricia Joyce sentenced David Hosier, 58, to death for killing Angela Gilpin.

Hosier is also suspected of killing Gilpin’s husband Rodney in their Jefferson City apartment, but the trial was only for Gilpin’s murder.

In October, a jury found Hosier guilty of first-degree murder, armed criminal action and burglary. Jurors recommended the death sentence.

Prosecutors say Hosier and Angela Gilpin had an affair, but she was trying to reconcile with her husband. They believe that is what caused Hosier to murder Angela and allegedly kill Rodney.

The trial had been delayed twice because not enough potential jurors could be found in Cass and Clay counties.
