Lincoln University to eliminate several positions

A new “organizational structure” at Lincoln University will cause several employees to lose their jobs.

The university announced Tuesday that some top-level positions were combined with the duties of other positions. Because of the restructuring, some employees will be laid off.

ABC 17 News confirmed seven employees will be terminated. Three of the employees had vice president roles.

“After careful consideration, there were some employees who we were unable to reassign,” said Lincoln University president Dr. Kevin D. Rome, Sr. in a statement. “Decisions like this are difficult, but necessary, as we evaluate the university’s current budget and moving into the next fiscal year.”

The university says the cuts will save $200,000 through June 2014.
