Construction begins on new retirement community
Construction has begun on the new Primrose Retirement Community in Jefferson City.
This 84-unit independent and assisted living community will bring more than 30 new jobs to the community.
Primrose Retirement Communities has more than 30 locations in 15 different states and is based out of South Dakota.
About five years ago, the company began looking to expand again and says it found Jefferson City to be a place in need of a new retirement community.
After years of research about the area, plans for the building are complete and the company is ready to begin construction.
Developers say Primrose is investing around $5 million dollars with financing through Central Bank.
The community will consist of 36 independent living and 40 assisted living apartment homes in the main two-story building. It will also have eight independent living town home villas.
“As we start construction what you’ll see is a very nice building with a few duplex homes that are specifically made for seniors,” said Primrose President B.J. Schaefbauer.
There will also be public areas including a wellness center, billiards room, a chapel, movie theater and a business center.
This will be the second Primrose Retirement Center in Missouri. The company acquired a community in Kansas City earlier this year.
