Columbia police: Missing woman found safe in Colorado

Columbia police have confirmed that a missing woman has been located in Colorado Springs, Colo.

A Columbia officer received a call on Saturday from a Colorado law enforcement agency saying Cassandra Laronge, 27, had contacted them and said she was fine.

Laronge was last seen Oct. 26 leaving a home in the 100 block of Oak Street, where she was staying with a friend.

Police say the warrants on Chris Mears, the man Laronge was suspected to be with, are still active, but an arrest has not been made.

Jorlena Williams, the mother of Cassandra Laronge, told ABC 17 News she is glad her daughter has been found, but will still worry about her daughter until Mears is found.

“It scares me because he is still out there and he has done some terrible things,” Williams said.

Williams also said she has some ideas about where Mears could be heading next.

“He’s still at large and we need to find him and he might be on his way back to that area in Missouri because he needs money,” she said.

Williams is asking the public to keep an eye out for Mears.

ABC 17 News contacted the Colorado Springs Police Department to try to find details about the kind of car he may be driving and a possible license plate number. No new information has been given at this time.

Mears is considered armed and dangerous. If anyone knows his whereabouts, they are asked to call police.
