Columbia girl killed in Audrain County crash

A Saturday night crash in Audrain County killed a young Columbia girl.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. on County Road 820, about a half-mile north of Business 54.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Aaron Wormington, 34, of Columbia, attempted to pass a truck that was turning into a driveway. Wormington’s car hit the side of the truck, causing his car to travel off the road and overturn.

A passenger in his car, Jade Stafford, 12, of Columbia, was taken to Audrain Medical Center before being transported by helicopter to University Hospital. She was later pronounced dead.

Wormington was taken to Audrain Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The Highway Patrol says Stafford was wearing a seat belt, while Wormington was not.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

CORRECTION: Jade Stafford’s was incorrectly spelled in an accident report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
