Three arrested for drugs during theft investigation

Columbia police, looking for a stolen television, discovered a stash of drugs at a home Friday night.

John Hardy, Jr., 29, was a suspect in a Sunday theft from the Walmart on West Broadway in Columbia. Officers arrived at a home on Oak Lawn Drive Friday to conduct a search warrant.

Inside the home, investigators found methamphetamine, heroin, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia. They also found a handgun.

Officer also found tools reported stolen from the construction site of Lucky’s Market on Providence Road November 2.

Hardy was arrested and could face counts of possession of a controlled substance, distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a concealable firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held Saturday night without bond.

Two other people were also arrested at the home. John Curry, 32, and Kerry Pruett, 37, could also face drug charges.
