Rock Bridge football earns first trip to state since 1993

It may have not been pretty the way Rock Bridge limped into the playoffs. But that fact is long in the past, as Rock Bridge football earned a trip to state after defeating Hazelwood Central 36-33 in a last-minute win on Friday.

Rock Bridge was down 33-29 in the fourth quarter. But thanks to big runs from Eli Stout and a 35 yard TD pass from Logan Twehous to Zach Reuter, the Bruins held off the Hawks.

The Bruins were far from perfect. The team let up more than 400 yards rushing and threw for six interceptions. Yet, the Hawks were unable to put the Bruins away and it came back to haunt them.

Rock Bridge, who lost its last four regular season games, beat three district opponents on the road and upset the No. 2 team in the state to get to the state final. The Bruins take on Blue Springs at 7:30 next Saturday at the Edward Jones Dome.
