Columbia police arrest kidnapping, rape suspect

Columbia police have made an arrest in a kidnapping and rape case that happened back in September.

Police say the case started at the end of September when officers were called out the 1200 block of Wilkes Boulevard in reference to a kidnapping.

Investigators say Marcus Smith confronted a female victim with a handgun in her car and threatened to kill her.

Police then say Smith drove the victim to an unknown location in the county and forcibly rape the woman.

Monday, investigators caught up to Smith on Worley Street and arrested him on multiple charges.
