Search teams find body of missing Boonville man
The body of a man missing in Boonville since last Tuesday was found Sunday morning by volunteer search teams.
Sources close to Michael Magyar’s family told ABC 17 News the body was found within minutes of the public search that left from Harley Park at 10 a.m. It was located near a house on Oregon Trail.
Boonville police chief Bob Welliver said in a news release Sunday afternoon that an autopsy would be performed on the body to determine a cause of death. Foul play was not suspected.
Community members said that although finding Michael Magyar brings closure to the family, it doesn’t make it hurt any less.
Michael Magyar, 47, left on foot between 8:30 and 11 a.m. Tuesday. He was last seen wearing a black fleece pullover with a pirate logo and “MAGYAR 285” on the sleeve.
He was reported missing on Thursday.
He had a small amount of cash and credit cards when he left. Relatives said the cards had not been used.
Magyar is 5’11” tall, weighs around 240 lbs, and has green eyes and brown hair.
