Jefferson City man arrested after leading police on a pursuit

A Jefferson City man was arrested early Monday after leading police on a chase through the city.

An officer tried to pull over a car around 2 a.m. in the 1200 black of East Capitol Ave. A check of the vehicle showed there was a warrant flag on the license plate, according to police.

When the officer approached the vehicle, the suspect fled, leading to a pursuit through the east side of Jefferson City. The car later malfunctioned and stopped on Route C and police arrested 37-year-old Clarence L. Johnson.

Johnson was arrested for resisting arrest, driving while revoked, first-degree tampering and felony parole violation.
