Football fans boo president during National Guard ceremony

The mention of the “President of the United States” caused fans at Saturday’s University of Missouri football game to boo.

During a Missouri National Guard ceremony to swear-in new members, guardsmen had to recite an oath that contained the line, “I will obey the orders of the President of the United States.”

According to numerous attendees, the mention caused boos to erupt throughout Memorial Stadium.

The action has one state representative angry at both the fans and university officials.

Rep. Clem Smith (D-Velda Village Hills) said he is “embarrassed and angry” by the action. Smith attended the game and heard the boos himself.

He went on to say that the university did nothing to “reprimand the crowd members for this inappropriate and unpatriotic act.”

The University of Missouri Tigers defeated the University of Tennessee Volunteers 31-3.
