Former Columbia police captain named Salina, Kan. chief

A former Columbia police captain will serve as police chief in Salina, Kan. starting next month.

The Salina Journal reported Brad Nelson was officially named police chief Friday.

Nelson spent the last several years as a captain with the Columbia Police Department. He replaces an interim chief who is retiring next month.

Former chief Jim Hill retired on October 1, according to the newspaper.
