Central Bank “robo calls” continue across mid-Missouri

More mid-Missourians reported getting phony calls from telemarketers parading as Central Bank this weekend.

The bank posted a warning Saturday on its Facebook page.

” As always, never respond to these calls,” the post read. “If you do or if you are concerned, call the number on the the back of your card and speak with someone you know is legitimate. “

One week ago, several ABC 17 News viewers reported similar calls. A recorded voice answers the phone and announces that the customer’s debit card has been locked. To unlock the card, the person on the other end of the line must enter personal information.

Central Bank said it believes the scam may be originating from overseas because victims report that is where charges are being made to their cards.
