MU women’s basketball team exhibition matchup v. Southwest Bearcats

Mizzou Women’s Basketball team won its first exhibition match 79-53 over the Southwest Baptist Bearcats on Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena.

It was almost 40 years ago the first time these two teams met.

It was also the first year the University of Missouri had a women’s basketball team.

Bri Kulas and freshman Jordan Frericks each scored 16 points. Frericks hit 6 of 7 shots and had three steals in her first action as a Tiger.

Kulas recorded a double-double, adding 11 boards to her 16 points.

Mizzou held Southwest Baptist defensively. The Tigers turned an eight-point deficit into a 16-point halftime lead during that stretch and never trailed the rest of the night.

Overall, Mizzou was efficient offensively, hitting 50 percent of its shots.

Mizzou hosts Quincy university at Mizzou Arena next Tuesday for its last exhibition game.
