Emergency Sirens hit by lightning
Jefferson City officials said Thursday it will be next week before they know if two outdoor emergency sirens will be replaced.
The sirens on Militia Drive and Highway 179 were hit by lightning and destroyed in September.
It isn’t clear if insurance will cover the cost to replace the sirens.
If insurance doesn’t cover the cost, the city could be forced to pay about $20,000 per siren.
Officials say they should know more Monday after the City Council meeting
