New websites, apps places for kids to cyberbully in secret

According to a study by iSAFE, one in three people have received cyber threats online.

New websites and apps are allowing for that cyberbullying to happen more easily, and without parents knowing.

Websites like ask.fm and apps like Kik and Voxer are messaging sites parents have yet to catch on to.

Detective Andy Anderson with the Internet crimes unit at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department said that kids are using these apps if their parents check their text messaging, so that their parents won’t know they are still messaging.

The website ask.fm was the site teens used to bully Rebecca Sedgwick of Florida. She then committed suicide.

Anderson believes it is imperative parents check everything their child uses and make sure they stay up to date on the latest apps.

He said when a child is bullied, it is crucial the parents get them any help they need.
