Miller County man arrested after allegedly abducting woman and running from authorities

A Miller County man is behind bars after he allegedly abducted a woman and led authorities on a chase Sunday night.

The Miller County Sheriff’s Department said law enforcement tried to stop a truck on Highway 54, but the vehicle failed to stop and led police on a chase toward Jefferson City.

During the chase, a female passenger got out and told authorities she had been abducted by the driver, John Grandson.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were able to stop the vehicle and arrested Grandon for armed criminal action, distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, felonious restraint and tampering with physical evidence.

The female passenger was taken to Lake Regional Hospital and later released with minor injuries.

Authorities say during the chase, Grandon threw a handgun out the window of the truck, but was later picked up by a passing driver. Sheriff William Abbott is asking for the gun to be turned over to local law enforcement since it was possibly involved in a crime.

Grandon is being held on $300,000 bond at the Miller County Sheriff’s Department.
