Pinkel: James Franklin out 3-5 weeks

Missouri senior quarterback James Franklin will be sidelined for the next three to five weeks, according to Missouri football coach Gary Pinkel. Franklin suffered a shoulder sprain in Saturday’s upset win over Georgia.

Franklin’s shoulder hit the ground hard late in the fourth quarter. He immediately went to the sidelines and initial concerns assumed he separated his shoulder. This was the same shoulder he had surgery on earlier.

The Tigers will turn to Maty Mauk, the redshirt freshman who filled in for Franklin when he left the game. Mauk was one of the best quarterbacks statistically in high school, as was a two-time Gatorade Ohio player of the year at Kenton High School.

Pinkel also said cornerback EJ Gaines is questionable while Anthony Gatti is expected to play against Florida on Saturday.
