Authorities searching for convicted felon involved in hit-and-run accident
The Maries County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a convicted felon involved in a hit-and-run accident on Sunday night.
Sheriff Chris Heitman said Dennis Lawson was involved in an accident on County Road 613 around 6 p.m. Heitman said Lawson’s car hit another car driven by a 17-year-old.
Lawson allegedly got out of his car, told the other driver was okay, then left the scene on foot.
Lawson is out on bond and a multi-convicted felon , according to authorities.
Sheriff’s deputies spent much of Sunday night searching for Lawson, including checking barns, outbuildings and area homes.
On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said charges were filed against Lawson for felony leaving the scene of an accident, felony driving while revoked, having no insurance, and careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident. His bond will be set at $100,000.
