Columbia man arrested for assault with handgun

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Columbia man Sunday after he allegedly assaulted another man with a handgun.

Deputies responded to a weapons call around 4:19 p.m. Sunday in the 10400 block of Highway VV.

They say 30-year-old Ronnie Long came to the home of the victim to discuss an item he wanted to buy. However, during that discussion, the victim told authorities Long pointed a handgun at him before he left the home.

A deputy later found Long, who had a loaded handgun on his person. Long has a revoked drivers license and is a convicted felon, making it illegal for him to own a gun.

Long was arrested for armed criminal action, third-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, and driving while revoked.

His total bond has yet to be set and he remains in the Boone County Jail.
