Dozens go “Over the Edge” for charity

Dozens of Mid-Missourians rappelled down the tallest building in Jefferson City Saturday for charity.

Over the Edge is an annual event that allows people to rappell down buildings in many different cities after they raise a certain amount of money and donate it to charity.

The proceeds from Saturday’s Over the Edge event were donated to Special Olympics Missouri.

Site safety supervisor Rebecca Seagrest said rappelling is actually safer than skydiving.

She and the Over the Edge rope staff guided rappellers down the 13-story Jefferson State Office Building by talking to them through walkie-talkies.

The event was put on by the Jefferson City Police Department.
