New employer coming to Jefferson City

With almost 500 RR Donnelley workers out of work in Jefferson City, the city’s Chamber of Commerce says it has been working hard to bring in new jobs to the city.

Chamber officials say it hopes that one new business moving into town will help alleviate some of the unemployment.

The Chamber of Commerce sold more than nine acres of land to packaging company, Morris Converting, LLC, under market value in hopes of bringing in new jobs to the area.

Morris promises to bring at least 20 new jobs with plans to add more in the future.

“A lot of people will be able to apply for those jobs, and they will be up and running in 2014. So, very quick turnaround for the company,” said Missy Bonnot of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce.
