Suspect on the run after robbing Kaldi’s Coffee at gunpoint

Police are investigating an armed robbery at Kaldi’s Coffee in downtown Columbia.

Officers say around 5:30 a.m., a black man entered the coffeehouse on the corner of Ninth and Cherry streets through the back door after an employee had opened the door for a coworker.

Police say the suspect pointed a handgun at the employee and demanded money.

The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a black man, approximately 30-years-old, 6’1″ tall, bald and with glasses. He was last seen wearing shorts and a tank top.
