Man pleads guilty to stealing patrol car, attacking deputy

A man confessed he attacked a deputy last year and stole his patrol car, taking authorities on a lengthy car chase around Boonville.

Ronald Greer pleaded guilty last week on two counts — assaulting an officer and escaping from custody. All other charges were dropped, and Greer received 15 years in prison.

Deputies were transporting Greer so he could appear in court when he got loose in August 2012 at a rest stop in Cooper County.

Greer was also convicted of raping a woman on the Katy Trail earlier that summer in Sedalia. He will be sentenced for those crimes on October 9.

Greer already served 22 years in prison for an unrelated rape case.
