Two people injured in shooting on Hackberry Boulevard

A man and woman were shot late Sunday night, just a couple miles north of Columbia.

Neighbors in the 100 block of Hackberry Boulevard told ABC 17 News they heard several rounds of gunfire around 10:15 p.m. Sunday.

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies at the scene confirmed multiple gunshots had been fired, several from inside a vehicle, possibly a four-door sedan.

Deputies also responded to shots fired in the 5400 block of North Rocky Fork Drive minutes before the shooting on Hackberry Boulevard.

Witnesses on North Rocky Fork Drive saw someone shooting a gun from a vehicle as well. Deputies did not find evidence but do not think the reports are random.

Investigators believe the latest victims have ties to a home on North Rocky Fork Drive, where a house was also shot several times on July 9.

The two victims were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The man is age 21 and the woman is age 19, but their conditions and names are not being released.

The scene on Hackberry Boulevard is also the same block as a June 3 incident, in which three masked men entered a home during what deputies described as an attempted robbery. A round was fired, but it did not injured anyone. Two men suffered some injuries after being hit in the head.
