Two injured following boat explosion at Lake of the Ozarks

Two people were injured after a boat exploded at the Lake of the Ozarks Saturday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Patrol Division, David L. Thompson, 44, of Columbia, was refueling his 35 ft. boat at Marine Max at the 17 mile mark of the Pogue Hollow Cove.

Troopers say while Thompson was doing maintenance in the engine compartment, a spark ignited causing the explosion.

Thompson was transported by Staff for Life helicopter to University Hospital with serious injuries.

A passenger on the boat, Brittany A. Bradley, 17, also of Columbia, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Lake Regional Hospital.
