Columbia police perform multi-agency saturation this weekend

Columbia police made nearly 40 arrests over a two day span during a multi-agency saturation effort.

According to a news release, the saturation took place on Thursday and Friday. While the department did not release final arrest numbers because all agencies had not compiled them, city manager Mike Matthes tweeted Saturday night:

“Proud of CPD! 2 day saturation event (FBI, Sheriff, etc) – 36 arrests – A great example of Respectful Aggressive Policing”

Police said the saturation involved added patrols through high crime parts of the city and county, with officers looking for criminal activity and people with arrest warrants.

The saturation involved Columbia police, Boone County Sheriffs deputies, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the University of Missouri Police Department, the FBI and U.S. Marshall Service.

A police spokesman wrote that more information would be available once all agencies finished tabulating numbers and reports.
