Transformer fire causes power outage

A transformer fire caused a power outage for around 500 Boone Electric Cooperative members Monday.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning in the Brown Station, Route B area.

Boone Electric Cooperative officials say it was because of a transformer fire in a substation.

It took about four hours to repair because they had to wait on crews from Central Electric Power Cooperative to fix the issue.
