Columbia police to hold safety checkpoint

Columbia police have a plan to crack down on drivers disobeying the law.

Police say suspended, revoked, unlicensed and uninsured drivers continue to be a problem out on the roads.

In an effort to crack down on those drivers, police will conduct a safety checkpoint in the city limits sometime between Sept. 8-14.

The checkpoint will happen during daylight hours. Police have chosen the location based on crash data, but they are not saying where it will be.

Drivers passing through the checkpoint should have their drivers license and proof of insurance ready to show to officers.
