Family: Body of missing 12-year-old girl found

The father of a missing 12-year-old southwest Missouri girl says searchers found her body on Wednesday afternoon.

According to affiliate KSPR, James Horton, the father of Adriaunna Horton, told local media about the discovery of Adriaunna’s body about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. He did not provide additional details.

KSPR reports Sgt. Jason Pace, a spokesman for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, could not confirm that Adriaunna’s body was found. Sgt. Pace did say the Horton family was going to Lamar to look at a body.

Authorities in southwest Missouri were searching for the girl after she was last seen getting into the car of a man now charged with her kidnapping.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 34-year-old Bobby D. Bourne Jr., of Lockwood, is charged with kidnapping and jailed in Barton County on $1 million bond in the child’s disappearance.

Authorities say Bourne was found Tuesday in a vehicle that witnesses say had picked up the girl about 90 minutes earlier.

Adriaunna’s father, James Horton, says Bourne once worked for him.
